8 JICA trainees from Iran had a site visit to Hakata Port on 19th of May, 2016.
After the presentation about the Overview of Hakata Port from Mr. Kusuyama, Director General of Kyushu Regional Development Bureau of Hakata Port and Airport Construction Office, MLIT, we had a site visit to the control center and Island City Container Terminal.
The trainees were interested in port development policy and the cooperation with the local governments.
We had a meaning-full Q & A and discussion.
We would like to keep our relationship and exchange information with Iran trainees.

20th Anniversary Celebration of Wan Hai Lines Calling to Hakata Port | 2016.04.21 |
Celebration to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Wan Hai Lines calling to Hakata was held in Hotel Nikko Fukuoka in April 21st.
In the celebration Mr. Ushiyama President of Geneq Corporation, the host of the party, gave a greeting speech followed by greeting address of Mr. TennyHsieh, Vice President of Wan Hai Lines.
The Celebration was a great success that memorial gifts was exchanged between Mr. Hsieh and Mr. Norimatsu, Port and Airport Bureau of Fukuoka City and between Mr. Hsieh and Mr. Daito President of Hakata Port Terminal Co., Ltd. exchanged the memorial gifts.
In the end of the celebration, there was a closing address from Mr. Daito.
First of all, I would like to pray the prosperity and good health of Wan Hai Lines, Geneq Corporation, and all attendees of this party and also lets strongly support the victims of the Kumamoto earthquake to recover from the disaster as fast as possible as part of the Kyushu District.

Hakata Port International Container Terminal is operated regularly | 2016.04.16 |
A 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit Kumamoto Prefecture at 1:25 am on April 16th.
We were very saddened to hear about the latest earthquakes.
Although a 3.5 magnitude earthquake was observed in Hakata Port International Container terminal on April 16th, there was no damage to both Kashii container terminal and Island City container terminal. Therefore, both terminals are open as usual.
International Port Security Program Conducted in Hakata | 2016.03.11 |
On-site investigation of International Port Security Program was conducted by U.S. Coast Guard in Hakata Port under the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea(SOLAS).
The investigation was conducted for 2days on March 8th and 9th at International Cruise Terminal at Chuo Wharf and Island City Container Terminal.
After the investigation, we received a comment from the inspector as Security measures in Japanese ports are considerably high worldwide. We fairly understood that Japan is tackling to enhance the security measures in preparation for hosting Ise-shima Summit. Also the utilization of IT system in Hakata is a best practice internationally.
We would like to continue to enhance the port security measurements in Hakata.

We received an interview from Sagarsandesh an Indian local maritime newspaper regarding the JV Operation and Management Improvement Project of Chennai Port, India.
We are working on this JV under the JICA-ODA Project with Mitsui Engineering and Shipping Company and Oversea Coastal Area Development Institute of Japan(OCDI).

Concluded MOU on Collaboration of Port Logistics IT System with XIAMEN INTERNATIONAL PORT CO. | 2016.02.23 |
On Feb 23rd we concluded MOU(Memorandum of Understanding) with Xiamen International Port Co.,Ltd. regarding the Collaboration of Port Logistics IT System.
We have been promoting this IT collaboration with Chinese ports since 2007 for improve the service for the users and it will be the 4th collaboration port in China following Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Qingdao.
Once this service starts, it will be possible to trace the container cargo between Hakata Port and Xiamen Port real-time and could contribute to the supply chain of shippers and logistics companies.
From now on, we will discuss the technical details of IT system collaboration for the early start of this service.

Hakata Port Promotion Seminar in Suzhou was held in Pan Pacific Suzhou on Jan 21st and there were many guests from shippers, logistics company and shipping lines.
In part 1 of the seminar, there was a welcoming speech and presentation about Hakata Port from Hakata Port and Bureau of Fukuoka-city, who is the host of the seminar.
And it was followed by the presentation from Mr. Yasuda, NIPPON EXPRESS (SHANGHAI) CO., LTD. and Mr. Kashii, Japan Freight Railway Company, regarding the logistics approaches about utilizing Hakata from Shanghai Port and Taicang Port.
In Part 2, we had a information networking party between the members of Hakata Port and the guests, we had a valid discussion.

Welcoming Ceremony of new vessel NATORI | 2016.01.16 |
We hosted a welcoming ceremony of NATORI, which is the new vessel of Imoto Lines.
The ceremony was held in the bridge of the vessel, started with the welcoming address from Mr. Ishihara, Management Director of Port Harbor Bureau of Fukuoka-City and followed by the speech of Mr. Imoto, the president of Imoto Lines.
Furthermore, a plaque from Fukuoka-City and a tablecloth of Hakata from Hakata Port Terminal was presented to Captain Samejima as a memorial gift.
