On May 20th, Mr. Daito, the executive director, gave a presentation on the subject ofFUKUOKA as Asian Gateway’ at BIZCOLI, the membership library, held byThe Nishi-Nippon City Bank, Ltd.and Kyushu Economic Research Center’.

The purpose of this seminar is to realize the local creation and to offer the information about local infrastructure and regional development learning past and future how gateway function of Fukuoka created and affected the economy and regional development of Fukuoka. This seminar is scheduled to be held all seven times from March 2015.

The first and second theme wasairport, and this time, third and fourth theme isHakata Port. Mr. Daito gave a lecture on the history of Hakata Port which has supported the exchange with Asia from the era of Kinin (the GOLD MARK) to contemporary.

More than 50 people attended the seminar and at the exchange event after the seminar, many people said that it was the first time to know the truth that Hakata Port has been the important place of exchange with Asia and supported the development of Fukuoka.

We would like to participate in such seminar actively in the future and to send information of Hakata Port.

We held the 8th overseas business activity training workshop on 18th of May.
We have invited Mr. Takafumi Suzuki from Hakata Brach of Moji Customs and learned about the customs operations overseas such as introducing NACCS system to other countries(example of Vietnam and Myanmar ) and activities of WCO (World Customs Organization).

Also we learned about the Customs Technical Cooperation part of the ODA to the developing countries to support and contribute their economic growth, appropriate customs operation, etc.

Mr. Zhang, Director and the other delegation members from Fujian Provincial Communications Department had an on-site tour at Hakata Port Container Terminal as part of the visit to Fukuoka-City, on May 11th.

Fujian Provincial Communications Department is administering the Port of Xiamen and we had a discussion about the deference of management and of the port between China and Japan.

We have attended to the eve on May 2nd , ceremony and the parade on May 3rd of the Hakata Dontaku Festival as a part of Dontaku-tai of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Fukuoka.
Due to the heavy rain on the 3rd, holding the festival itself was worried, however, the rain weakened at the time of the opening ceremony and the parade in the afternoon was held as scheduled.
Because of Hakata Dontaku Festival is also a Port festival, we would like to cheer up this festival as a port management company.

General Affairs

We, Hakata Port Terminal Co., Ltd., and Fukuoka City have concluded the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Port Authority of Thailand(PAT), regarding the Collaboration of Port Logistics IT System on April 28th, 2015.

We have been collaborating with East Asian ports such as China and Taiwan, however, this is the first approach of IT collaboration with ASEAN Ports.

Once this service starts, the real time trace of container cargo between Hakata Port and Bangkok Port will be realized and could contribute to the supply chain of shippers and logistics companies.

From now on, we would be discussing the technical detail of IT system collaboration for the early start of this service.

Infrastructure sites tour for senior children at elementary school, organized by the Kyushu Regional Development Bureau, MLIT, was held on 18th Apr, and 50 participants including parents came to a field tour to Hakata Port.

The tour visited both Kashii and Island City Container Terminal.

In Kashii we observed the Straddle Carrier System.
And also Port-kun, PR mascot character of Hakata Port, surprisingly came in to the tour and enjoyed the participants.

In Island City Container Terminal, the tour observed the container handling equipments such as refer container, quay gantry cranes, and the trailers.
Also we explained about the approaches of Hakata Port such as environmental actions BCP, etc.

How curios the members were, they asked a number of questions, not only from the children but also from the parents.

We would like to cooperate to this kind of tour to contribute to the public.

We welcomed the delegate members from Indonesia to Hakata Port on-site tour under the JICA program.

Together with Mr. Edy Putra , Deputy Minister of Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs, 19 Indonesian government officers and three Indonesian exchange students from Kyushu University have attended this on-site tour.

As the members were from different government ministries, we had many kinds of questions and discussions, which were a very stimulation for us.

We would like to further develop our port by having deepening relationship and exchanging information with ports overseas.

In Hakata Port, we have a logistics IT service called HiTSthat users can obtain the real-time information through the website freely, contributing to the speedy and efficient logistics business, such as checking the status of import/export container cargo and sharing the instruction and operational information among the port logistics vendors.
As part of upgrading the service, we improved the ENGLISH page and newly introduced the CHINESE page.

Now we are collaborating with oversea s ports to realize the international traceability. While expanding the global network, we have improved the foreign language page to comply with the needs from abroad.

This service will not only enable to access HiTS from abroad to check the container status information, but also will help the operations of foreign stuff in Japanese companies.

CHUN JIN the fist vessel of Shanghai-Kyushu service by Jin Jian Shipping has called to Hakata Port on March 23rd.

To celebrate this virgin call, Port and Harbor Bureau of Fukuoka City and we Hakata Port Terminal Co.,Ltd. held a welcom ceremony and presented a commemorative gift to Captain Lu.
Mr. Qiao the president of Jin Jian Shipping Japan also attended this cerenoly.

Business Promotion Division

We Hakata Port held a Briefing Session of Hakata Port in Ho Chi Minh City and in Hanoi City of Vietnam to promote the trading between Vietnam and Hakata Port.
There were about 50 attendance in Ho Chi Minh City and about 20 in Hanoi City such as shippers, shipping lines, trading company and international logistics companies.
We made a presentation about the outline and utilization of Hakata Port and run the DVD of the Hakata Port International Container Terminal as a promotion of the port.

Using this opportunity, we would like to take all strength to deepen exchanges with Vietnam which economy is boosting, and become the chosen port from the industry in Vietnam.
